The true-crime series “Der Engelmacher” explores the case of Paul Baumann, the founder of the Methernitha religious community.
The 4 part series grippingly recounts how Baumann established a closed-off system with Methernitha—and how former members broke their silence.
In addition, Zurich-based director Marina Klauser was the first to trace what happened after Baumann’s release in 1982.The series tells the harrowing story of the Swiss religious community Methernitha, which still exists today, and exposes systematic sexual abuse of minors. Patricia Walczak created the set design and costume design for the series’ historical flashbacks set in the 1950s and 1970s.
