Patricia Walczak

A production designer, costume designer and freelance artist since 2004. She graduated with distinction from The Department of Stage Design of Prof. rosalie at the Hochschule für Gestaltung, Offenbach am Main. She gained her professional experience in Germany, Poland, France and Austria.

She has worked for many film corporations like 20th Century Fox, Team Worx, Ziegler Film, Soilfilms, Kundschafter Film, Razorfilm, SWR, ZDF, HR, WDR, NDR, ARTE. The movies she worked on have been nominated for Golden Lion in Venice, Bavarian Film Award, German Television Award and the Award for Best Production Design at the BATSFF Festival in the USA.
She has worked for many theatre houses like State Theatre at Gärtnerplatz Munich, Opera National de Montpellier in France, Musical Theatre Gdynia in Poland, Theatre Münster and Theater an der Wien.
One of her last opera work is the stage & costume design of “Carmen” by Georges Bizet, directed by Andreas Zimmermann for Theater an der Wien, Kammeroper 2016 and stage & costume design of “Mein Freund Bunbury”, Musical by Gerd Natschinski, directed by Frank M. Widmaier for Brandenburger Theater 2019.

In 2018 she completed a workshop for production designers with the legendary Polish production designer Allan Starski.
Her last work is production design of the most famous TV crime series in Germany – TATORT “Hüter der Schwelle” 2019 and production design of a fiction movie “King of Ravens” 2020 and costume design of a TV movie “My girlfriend Volker” 2021, in which Axel Milberg has taken on a very special role of a drag queen.
All three projects were directed by Piotr J. Lewandowski.

In 2022 Patricia Walczak received a grant from the Federal Government for Culture and Media and the Kulturwerk Bild-Kunst Foundation and she is currently working on the art project “The Beauty of Being Different”. In five staged portraits, she will explore the possibilities of the costume image in the aspect of changing understanding of diversity, identity and related self-perception and perception of others.

The new American marketing campaign of ADIDAS for the product ADIDAS Originals ZXience has released a new commercial clip, produced by Friends Electric & Animation Studio Woodblock.
Patricia Walczak created the costume design for the starring role of the commercial.

«BROWSER BALLETT» BY SCHLECKY SILBERSTEIN & RAPHAEL SELTER | FIRST EDITION OF THE NEW ARD SHOW | On the air December 3, 2020

Patricia Walczak created the set design for the opening interlude in the first edition of the new ARD show “BROWSER BALLETT” directed by Raphael Selter. This playlet is about the BLID newspaper editorial team. Since December 2020 the show will be broadcast in 1st TV program on ARD / Das Erste.
In March 2021 the show has been nominated for the Grimme Award in the “Entertainment” category. In the thirty-minute fast-paced show the “Browser Ballet” takes on the big names in its usual sharp-tongued manner in the first TV programme: BILD-Zeitung, China and Corona deniers.

In his new feature film König der Raben / King of Ravens”, director Piotr J. The premiere of the play “FAUST I” by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe will take place on September 04, 2020 at the Brandenburger Theatre. The dynamic and impressive direction is by Kai Schubert, costumes and stage design are Patricia Walczak’s part of the work, the dramaturgy is by Frank Martin Widmaier, the artistic director of the theatre. The play is produced in cooperation with Poetenpack Potsdam. Now it can be seen at the Sanssouci Palace Theater in Potsdam
